Comelec Finds Six Senatorial Candidates Received Donations from Contractors

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) continues its investigation into candidates from the 2025 midterm elections who allegedly received campaign donations from government contractors.

In an interview, Comelec Chair George Garcia revealed that as of yesterday, the poll body had identified 26 contractors who acted as donors in the previous election.

According to Garcia, six senatorial candidates among the national contenders were found to have received contributions from these contractors.

However, the Comelec chief has not yet disclosed the names of the candidates involved.

Garcia said they still need to verify with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) whether these contractors are officially engaged in government projects.

It is worth noting that under the Omnibus Election Code, contractors involved in government projects are prohibited from donating funds to any political candidates.
