CICC orders influencers to delete online gambling posts

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has given content creators and influencers until today to remove any posts promoting illegal online gambling or risk facing criminal charges.

During a press conference, CICC officials announced they are issuing demand letters to those who continue to post or promote unregulated online gambling content.

The agency said the deadline is final, and that legal action will be taken against non-compliant creators within a week.

According to the CICC, influencers who ignore the ultimatum will be charged as part of the agency’s broader effort to curb the spread of illegal online gambling in the country.

The CICC has not disclosed the number of influencers targeted or the specific platforms being monitored, but said it has been closely watching posts that appear to endorse or encourage participation in online gambling.

The agency emphasized that this crackdown is part of its mandate to protect the public from cybercrimes and to hold those accountable who use their platforms irresponsibly.

No names of content creators were released, but the CICC said the initial batch of demand letters would be sent out immediately after the press briefing.
