A 14-year-old student was found carrying a .357 Smith & Wesson Magnum revolver inside a school bag at Lut-od National High School in Barangay Lut-od, Pinamungajan, Cebu.
The firearm was discovered by a teacher during a surprise inspection at around 3:50 p.m. Aug. 20.
According to the investigation, the minor allegedly took the firearm from a cabinet inside their home and brought it to school. The gun was reportedly owned by the student’s grandfather.
The student’s parents reportedly work outside the municipality, leaving the minor under the care of their grandparents.
The revolver had no ammunition when it was discovered.
Police immediately took custody of the firearm following the discovery.
The minor was also turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office for appropriate handling.
The incident involved the discovery of a firearm inside a student’s school bag during a school inspection. Authorities secured the weapon while the minor was placed under the care of the MSWD Office.
