A man landed in jail after stealing a motorcycle and getting caught on CCTV crashing the vehicle before being arrested in Moalboal, Cebu during a police hot pursuit.
According to the police report, the incident happened in Poblacion West, Moalboal. Around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, the victim, identified only as Jade, reported to authorities that his motorcycle had gone missing the previous afternoon.
CCTV footage from around 3:46 p.m. on Monday captured the suspect, identified as alias Janjan, riding the stolen motorcycle at high speed. The video also showed him losing control and crashing the bike just a short distance ahead. Despite the fall, he quickly stood up and fled on the same vehicle.
Moalboal police launched a hot pursuit operation shortly after receiving the report. By midday Tuesday, they successfully apprehended the suspect.
Janjan is now in the custody of the Moalboal Municipal Police Station and faces a carnapping charge.
