Cebu sinkhole under close watch as Bogo City officials restrict access

A sinkhole in Purok Indilicio, Barangay Guadalupe, Bogo City, Cebu, remains under monitoring as authorities continue to assess the area.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office responded Friday, Aug. 21, to inspect the site and implement necessary safety measures.

Authorities cordoned off the area and prohibited the public from going within 20 meters of the sinkhole as a precaution.

The disposal of garbage, soil, rocks or any debris into the sinkhole is also prohibited.

Three houses are located near the area, with one currently occupied. Although the houses are outside the designated 20-meter setback, the city government is encouraging preemptive evacuation as a precautionary measure.
