Strong Group-Pilipinas ends Jones Cup Campaign with fifth-place finish

Strong Group-Pilipinas wrapped up its 2026 William Jones Cup campaign on a winning note after beating Jordan, 96-91, in the fifth-place game in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

NBA veteran Boban Marjanovic powered Strong Group in the finale, finishing with 21 points, eight rebounds, and three assists while shooting 9-of-13 from the field.

Tajuan Agee also delivered 17 points, four rebounds, and three steals, while Matthew Wright and Ian Miller chipped in 15 points apiece.

The victory gave Strong Group a 6-1 overall record in the tournament, including a six-game winning streak after losing to South Korea’s Wonju DB Promy in its opening game.

Strong Group had finished the group phase with a 5-1 record and second place in Group A, but its bid for a third straight Jones Cup title ended because of the tournament’s new format.

Host Chinese Taipei-Blue was awarded a semifinal berth despite its 1-5 record, while Wonju DB advanced alongside the two semifinalists from Group B.

Strong Group responded by dominating Chinese Taipei-Blue, 117-74, in its final group game before securing fifth place with the win over Jordan.

Despite missing out on the championship round, Strong Group closed its campaign with six consecutive victories and a strong 6-1 record.
