Cebu town police chief Glenn Hife dies in his quarters

A wave of shock swept through the Tuburan Municipal Police Station in Cebu on Saturday afternoon, January 4, 2025, when police officers discovered their chief, Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Hife, lifeless in his quarters.

Earlier in the day, Hife allegedly complained of severe stomach pain and went to his room on the station’s second floor to rest.

By late afternoon, when he failed to go downstairs, concerned colleagues checked on him and reportedly found him seated on his bed, hands resting on his feet, head bowed downward, and unresponsive.

Initial reports said that Hife exhibited signs of respiratory distress before colleagues discovered his lifeless body.

Brigada News FM Pagadian reported that Hife earned widespread respect as a model police officer. Under his leadership, the Tuburan Police Station received recognition as one of Cebu province’s top-performing stations.

Before leading the Tuburan Police Station, he served with distinction at the Balamban Municipal Police Station.

Authorities have tasked the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) with investigating the incident and determining the cause of death of Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Hife.
