Winston Casio, spokesperson for the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), has issued a public apology following his dismissal from office after a viral video showed him slapping an individual during a POGO hub raid in Bataan.
In a statement, Casio admitted his mistake and apologized to the public, as well as to PAOCC officials, including Chairperson Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz.
“No wrong can right another wrong; thus, I apologize for reacting as I did despite the provocation that we experienced during the raid we conducted at Central One Bataan last October 31, 2024. I should have simply filed the necessary charges against the person who flashed the dirty finger at us and insulted our office with vitriol. Then again, my temper got the better of me. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa,” Casio stated.
Casio urged the public not to blame the entire PAOCC for his actions and expressed his readiness to face any administrative measures that may be imposed on him.
The incident has sparked controversy, with many questioning the conduct of officials during operations. Casio’s apology aims to address the backlash and restore public trust in the PAOCC.
