Forced evacuations ordered for typhoon Marce

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed local governments and their Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils to implement forced evacuations in areas likely to be severely affected by Typhoon Marce.

During a morning press briefing at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Defense Secretary and NDRRMC Chairman Gilberto Teodoro Jr. announced that the DILG has also instructed mayors to identify centralized points for the national government to deliver relief goods and items.

In addition to these provisions, water and essential supplies will be distributed to affected residents. Teodoro emphasized the importance of camp management in the wake of the typhoon.

“We’re ready for the worst,” Teodoro declared, highlighting the urgency of the situation. He also alerted the Regional Directors of the Office of Civil Defense to assist barangays in disseminating information to the public regarding the typhoon.

The directive aims to ensure that all necessary measures are in place to protect the lives and property of residents in the path of Typhoon Marce.
