Cash aid distribution for jeepney, TNVS drivers expected next week

Cash assistance distribution for tricycle drivers in Metro Manila has already begun as support amid rising fuel prices.

According to Rex Gatchalian, Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the payout is being released under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.

The aid covers around 139,000 tricycle drivers in Metro Manila, with each beneficiary set to receive ₱5,000 in financial assistance.

Meanwhile, Gatchalian said the agency is targeting to expand the distribution next week to other transport sectors, including jeepney drivers, transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers, and delivery service drivers.

He added that within the remaining two weeks before Holy Week, all remaining sectors are expected to be covered.

After that period, the distribution will move to areas outside Metro Manila, in line with the directive of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr..
