A businessman was shot and killed inside his store along Guinoyoran Road in Purok 10, Poblacion, Valencia City, Bukidnon, on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The victim was identified as Michael Cloma Actub, 45, married and a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Batangan, also in Valencia City.
According to a report from the Valencia City Police Station, the shooting occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2026. Authorities said the suspect arrived at the store wearing a green jacket and a half-face helmet and initially posed as a customer.
Police said the suspect did not stay long inside the store. Moments later, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Actub, hitting him in the head.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, police said.
After the shooting, the suspect immediately fled the scene, traveling along Guinoyoran Road aboard a Bajaj motorcycle, according to investigators.
Police launched a hot pursuit operation shortly after the incident. As of this writing, authorities said they have identified a person of interest in connection with the killing.
The police have not released further details about the suspect’s identity. They also said the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
Valencia City police said they are continuing to gather evidence, review information, and coordinate follow-up operations to locate and arrest the suspect.
Residents in the area were advised to remain vigilant and to report any information that could help authorities in the ongoing investigation.
