BOC collects P102M from auction of Discaya luxury vehicles

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has collected more than P102 million from the auction of luxury vehicles seized from contractor couple Discaya.

According to the BOC, a total of nine vehicles have already been sold through four auctions conducted by the agency. The vehicles were part of 13 luxury cars confiscated from the couple.

During the most recent auction held on Feb. 25, the BOC sold a 2022 Bentley Bentayga for P12.18 million. A 2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV was also purchased for P6.6 million during the same auction.

The agency said the sales are part of its disposal process for seized assets.

The BOC confirmed that the proceeds from the auctions will be remitted to the National Treasury. The funds are intended to support various government programs and projects.

Officials said the auctions are conducted in accordance with existing regulations on the disposition of confiscated properties.

Of the 13 luxury vehicles seized from the Discaya couple, four units remain unsold.

The Bureau of Customs announced that these remaining vehicles are scheduled for auction on March 17.

The agency has not released additional details about the remaining vehicles but confirmed that they will also be offered through the same public auction process.

Government authorities continue to dispose of seized assets through auctions, allowing the proceeds to contribute to public funds.

With more vehicles still up for bidding, the total amount collected from the Discaya vehicles may increase after the next auction scheduled later this month.
