BIR extends tax deadlines in Cebu following 6.9-magnitude quake

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Monday, October 6, has extended until the end of October the deadlines for filing tax returns, paying corresponding taxes, and submitting required documents for taxpayers in Cebu, following the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck the province last week.

Under Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 88-2025, BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. ordered the extension to assist taxpayers affected by the calamity.

The measure covers those under Revenue District Offices No. 80 (Mandaue City), No. 81 (Cebu City North), No. 82 (Cebu City South), No. 83 (Talisay City), and No. 123 (Large Taxpayers Division – Cebu), including their Authorized Agent Banks. All deadlines falling within October 2025 are covered by the extension.

Lumagui said the move aims to give taxpayers sufficient time to comply with their obligations while easing the administrative challenges brought by the disaster.

Cebu remains under a state of calamity after the earthquake hit its northern portion, leaving at least 72 people dead and over 200 others injured.*
