Martha Stewart has never been one to shy away from controversy, and her latest comments may have ignited a new celebrity feud. The 83-year-old lifestyle mogul took a subtle yet pointed jab at Barbra Streisand, criticizing the legendary singer’s nearly 1,000-page autobiography, My Name Is Barbra, calling it “long and boring.”
The remark came during an interview with actress Pamela Anderson for Elle magazine, where Stewart discussed her own upcoming memoir. She made it clear that she intends to reveal everything in her book without making it an exhaustive read.
Martha’s Memoir Takes Shape, but Not Like Barbra’s
Stewart, who has built an empire in the lifestyle and culinary industries, spoke candidly about her approach to writing.
“I’m writing an autobiography right now,” Stewart told Anderson. “Wait until you do that… Boy, I’m having fun. I’m not going to let anything not be said. I want to tell it all.”
Rather than leaving it at that, Stewart took the opportunity to contrast her memoir with Streisand’s.
“It’s a huge challenge to do that and not be Barbra Streisand with 900 pages,” she added. “I don’t want it to be long and boring.”
According to insiders, the 82-year-old Funny Girl star did not take kindly to the criticism. Streisand, who spent a decade writing her memoir, reportedly poured over every word and took great pride in its success. The book, which was published in 2023, sold over 3 million copies worldwide and was widely celebrated by critics and fans alike.
Hollywood Chooses Sides in Brewing Feud
A source close to Streisand revealed that she is furious over Stewart’s comments and sees them as an unnecessary and disrespectful attack.
“Barbra is taking it as a slap in the face,” the insider said. “She wrote every word of her memoir, and it took her 10 years to finish. She thinks Martha has a lot of nerve to compare their careers.”
The feud could have lasting effects in Hollywood, as sources claim Streisand has already warned friends to choose sides.
“Barbra has already alerted all her Hollywood friends that they can’t be pals with her and Martha,” the source added. “If they choose Martha, they better be ready to be ignored when they come to L.A. to promote anything.”
Stewart has a history of outspoken comments about fellow celebrities. She has previously taken shots at Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow, dismissed Rachael Ray as “more of an entertainer than a chef,” and reportedly had a falling out with former friend Ina Garten.
While Stewart’s memoir is still in the works, it remains to be seen whether she will hold back on her critiques—or if more celebrities will find themselves in her crosshairs.
