The AFP described Ermita as a “distinguished soldier, statesman, and leader” who devoted his life in service to the nation.
According to the institution, the former military chief exemplified unparalleled professionalism and competence throughout his long career.
Ermita was a colonel when martial law was declared in 1972 and became known as an expert in psychological warfare.
From 1976 to 1985, he served as Senior Military Assistant at the Office of the Undersecretary of National Defense.
