Malacañang clarified that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s previous medical condition, diverticulitis, is not affecting his current duties as chief executive.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement following observations circulating on social media noting the President’s apparent weight loss. The clarification was meant to address speculation about his health condition.
Castro said Marcos has been taking precautions with his diet to prevent a recurrence of diverticulitis, a condition he experienced in the past. She emphasized that the dietary adjustments are preventive measures aimed at maintaining his health.
According to Castro, the President is not experiencing any health problems at present. She also assured the public that Marcos remains in good physical condition and capable of performing his responsibilities.
The Palace statement sought to calm concerns raised online after social media users commented on the President’s physical appearance. Officials reiterated that there are no current medical issues affecting his work.
Malacañang maintained that Marcos continues to carry out his duties without interruption. The Palace also reiterated that his past diverticulitis is being managed through proper diet and preventive measures.
