Heather Rae El Moussa says flipping homes with her husband Tarek El Moussa has brought them closer than ever. The couple kicked off their journey with a challenging Silver Lake renovation that forced them to communicate deeply while expecting their daughter. Heather recalled it as the “year of work, grind, baby.” The project went over time and budget, yet they finished unified and grew stronger.
Their show The Flipping El Moussas debuted in spring, showcasing the tension and teamwork it took to overcome delays and cost overruns. Heather admitted she isn’t as skilled at flipping as Tarek, but she’s catching up fast. She said she learned a lot from him and they have the best time working together. She dismissed fears about mixing marriage and business, saying they carve out quality time every night to share gratitude.
New business ventures fuel entrepreneurial fire
Beyond home renovations, Heather has diversified into lifestyle brands. She launched a beauty line called Heather Rae Essentials and a home goods collection with Shein. She handpicked affordable décor items like vases, rugs and tableware, favoring neutral tones accented by bursts of color. Heather said those pops of color freshen any space.
Tarek is also busy flipping houses solo on HGTV’s Flipping 101. Meanwhile, Heather is building her brand and aims to break into major retailers like Sephora, Ulta or Revolve. She plans a podcast too and wants to do more design and TV. Ultimately, though, she says her highest priority is being the best mom and wife—and starting more businesses with her husband.
Co-parenting and family-centered goals
The couple will mark their fourth wedding anniversary this fall and remain each other’s best friend. They also co-star with Tarek’s ex, Christina Haack, in a crossover show The Flip Off. Heather said that time heals and she now values working together with both Tarek and his former spouse. They live by routines that reinforce their bond, including nightly chats about gratitude.
They parent toddler Tristan full time and use date nights to maintain connection. Heather said syncing family and business life has only tightened their bond. She emphasized communication and remembering why they fell in love in the first place. As the couple expands their empire together, insiders wonder how far they’ll take their partnership—will the next empire include a joint podcast, a line in Sephora, or a lifestyle brand built entirely on their chemistry.
