Five people, including three children, died in a fire that broke out late Tuesday evening in a residential area on E. Mendoza Street, Barangay Buting, Pasig City.
The fatalities include a mother and her two children, aged 1 and 11, and a father with his 15-year-old child. The fire started around 11:00 p.m. on June 4 and was declared under control several hours later, according to a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Authorities said a total of 18 families, or 89 individuals, were affected by the incident. The displaced residents are temporarily staying in evacuation centers while authorities assess the damage.
The BFP said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries aside from the fatalities have been reported so far.
