The death toll has risen to 20 following the sinking of the passenger ferry Virgo Transport 8 in the Java Sea off Indonesia.
In the latest recovery operations, 10 bodies were retrieved in recent days—eight from inside the vessel and two from the shoreline of Central Kalimantan.
Authorities said 115 people remain missing, while 108 others have been rescued.
Divers continue to conduct underwater searches inside the ferry’s cabins, where more bodies have reportedly been spotted but could not be immediately recovered due to poor visibility and strong currents.
Rescue teams also plan to inspect vehicles aboard the ferry, although the operation could be dangerous because some of the vehicles are piled on top of one another.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations have been extended until next Sunday as authorities continue efforts to locate those still missing.
