The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles has urged Filipinos in Southern California to take precautions amid an intense and prolonged heat wave, with temperatures expected to reach 102 to 107 degrees Fahrenheit.
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning across large parts of Los Angeles and Orange counties, prompting authorities to advise the public to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities.
Those without air conditioning are also encouraged to seek refuge in libraries and senior centers serving as cooling facilities.
The public is likewise reminded never to leave children, elderly individuals, or pets inside parked vehicles, where temperatures can rise to dangerous levels within minutes.
