A 17-year-old high school student was found carrying suspected marijuana during a routine inspection at the entrance of a national high school in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, on July 22, authorities said.
According to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), officers recovered three sachets containing suspected marijuana from the minor.
The suspected marijuana weighed an estimated eight grams and had an estimated value of nearly ₱1,000.
Authorities also recovered a ceramic pipe, a pair of scissors, a lighter, and a sling bag from the student.
The confiscated suspected marijuana will be submitted for laboratory examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
In an interview with Brigada News FM Bacolod, Barangay Granada Captain Armando Vito described the incident as alarming, saying it raises the possibility that someone may be supplying illegal drugs to students.
Vito also clarified that the student is not a resident of Barangay Granada and only attends school in the area.
Police have not released the identity of the student because the individual is a minor.
Authorities have not announced whether additional suspects have been identified in connection with the incident.
The routine inspection was conducted at the school’s entrance, where authorities discovered the suspected illegal drugs and related items in the student’s possession.
Investigators are continuing to determine the source of the suspected marijuana and whether other individuals may have been involved.
The seized substances remain subject to laboratory testing to confirm their composition.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities gather additional information regarding the case and the possible source of the suspected illegal drugs recovered during the inspection.
