100K affected as Bulusan Volcano continues to unleash ash and tension

Nearly 100,000 people have been affected by the ongoing unrest of Bulusan Volcano in the Bicol Region, according to the latest report from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The OCD stated that 98,315 individuals—equivalent to 20,996 families—have been impacted by the volcano’s continued activity. Of this total, 65 families or 211 individuals are currently staying in evacuation centers set up by local authorities.

In response, the OCD Region V and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Bicol have delivered immediate assistance to the affected communities. The aid includes N95 face masks, hygiene kits, and both food and non-food relief items to support displaced families.

Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant. The OCD reminded residents to strictly avoid entering the 4-kilometer permanent danger zone surrounding Bulusan Volcano and to follow only official advisories from government agencies.
