4-vehicle collision in Davao City  injures several

A collision involving a pickup truck, motorcycle, car, and cargo truck occurred along McArthur Highway in Barangay Binugao, Toril, Davao City at 10:28 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, leaving several people injured.

According to the initial police report, the pickup truck was heading toward Davao City when it was rear-ended by the cargo truck while crossing the highway. The impact caused the pickup to swerve and crash into a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. A car then also hit the motorcycle.

The motorcycle was driven by Rico Monsuller of Tagum City, with his 17-year-old passenger, Karl. The car was driven by Reynante Bejona, 35, of Sarangani Province, with his wife Aphrodite as passenger. The pickup truck was driven by Karel Ian Dayo, from Davao City, while the cargo truck was operated by Eddie Matulin, 52, also from Davao.

Bejona, Monsuller, and their passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) by a 911 ambulance.

All four vehicles were damaged. The incident caused temporary traffic buildup near the a gas station as responders cleared the scene and conducted an investigation.

Authorities are verifying accounts to determine the exact cause and responsibilities behind the accident.
