Woman shot dead by suspected robber in Cebu City

A 24-year-old woman was shot and killed during a robbery late Monday morning, April 14, along J. Luna Street, Samar Loop, Barangay Luz.

The victim, identified as Frince, was reportedly on her way to work at a major mall in South Road Properties (SRP) when the incident occurred around 10 a.m. She was a native of Sibonga, Cebu but was living in Barangay Luz.

Frince was riding a motorcycle booked through a well-known ride-hailing service when an unidentified man on another motorcycle approached them. The suspect allegedly grabbed her cellphone and shot her in the head and other parts of the body.

Witnesses at the scene said the suspect was wearing a uniform from another popular motorcycle ride-hailing service, raising concerns about the use of such uniforms to disguise criminal intent.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage in the area to identify the suspect and determine the sequence of events. As of writing, no arrests have been made.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether the victim and the suspect had any prior connection, and investigations are ongoing.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among residents and commuters in the city, as the crime took place in broad daylight in a busy area.
