VP Sara Duterte slams ‘selective outrage’ over alleged billion-peso suitcase deliveries

Vice President Sara Duterte questioned what she described as the “deafening silence” of several groups regarding allegations involving former marines who reportedly delivered suitcases containing large sums of government money.

Duterte raised the issue while calling for transparency and accountability in addressing corruption allegations involving public funds.

According to the vice president, the silence of certain sectors stands out, particularly as allegations against her have quickly become the focus of investigations. She noted that some civil society groups, religious leaders, and lawmakers have not issued statements or taken visible action regarding the claims involving the alleged transport of suitcases filled with billions of pesos.

The allegations stem from statements made by 18 former marines who claimed they had been involved in delivering suitcases containing large amounts of government funds.

Duterte said the situation raises questions about fairness in how corruption allegations are handled in the country.

She stressed that public outrage against corruption should not be “selective” and should not depend on who is being accused. According to Duterte, investigations should be conducted regardless of whether the individuals involved are close to those in power.

The vice president also pointed out what she described as a lack of action from the current administration in investigating the alleged misuse of public funds.

Duterte reiterated that public funds belong to the people and that transparency is necessary to ensure accountability in handling government resources.

She called on concerned sectors to speak out and support efforts to uncover the truth behind the allegations involving the reported suitcase deliveries.
