Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro asserted that the call for protests by former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson to oust President Bongbong Marcos may be considered inciting to sedition.
In an interview, Castro said that, in her view, Singson’s actions amount to sedition, as he allegedly encouraged people to remove the President from office.
Despite this, she said the matter should be left to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to decide whether it will conduct a motu proprio investigation on the issue.
Meanwhile, Malacañang did not accept Singson’s challenge to a debate.
Singson earlier challenged President Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez to a debate after accusing them of being linked to alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
According to Castro, the President is extremely busy.
She added that even in reviewing the national budget, the President has had no vacation.
Castro stressed that debate is not the solution to corruption, but action.
