Four individuals sustained minor injuries after two buses collided in Badas, Mati City, around 9 a.m. Friday.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the accident involved a Bachelor Express bus and an LCI bus. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided immediate assistance to the injured passengers.
Among the injured were Antonio Villaber, 46, and Paul Malabago, 58, both residents of General Santos City. The two reportedly declined hospital transport despite sustaining minor injuries.
Meanwhile, two others—identified as 49-year-old Elsie Monis from Isulan and Jim Sobrecarey from Lupon, Davao Oriental—were taken to the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center. Monis reportedly experienced dizziness and vomiting, while Sobrecarey suffered multiple abrasions.
Authorities confirmed that all injuries were non-life-threatening, but hospital care was provided as a precautionary measure to ensure the victims’ well-being.
As of this writing, no official statement has been released regarding the cause of the collision. The local government and concerned agencies are expected to conduct a further investigation.
Motorists are reminded to exercise caution when traversing the area, particularly in the Badas section, which has seen multiple traffic-related incidents in the past.
