Couple and daughter found shot dead in Negros Occidental

Three members of a family were found dead Friday morning, May 2, in Sitio Guinam-an, Barangay Buenavista, Murcia, Negros Occidental after an apparent shooting incident, according to local police.

The victims were identified as Nelde, 59; Josefine, 60; and their daughter Juvy, 33. Their bodies were discovered inside their home, with authorities believing they were shot the night before.

In an interview with Brigada News FM Bacolod, a neighbor named Neneng said they heard what sounded like gunshots around 6 p.m. on Thursday. However, no one suspected anything until the grim discovery the following morning.

“We heard the sound, but never imagined it would be our neighbors,” Neneng told reporters.

Barangay tanod Joesarie, who responded to the scene, said that aside from the sound of gunfire, no one was heard calling for help, nor were there any reports of armed individuals seen in the area that night.

Both Neneng and Joesarie said the victims had no known enemies or recent conflicts.

The Murcia Municipal Police Station has launched a full investigation to determine the motive and identity of the suspect or suspects behind the incident.

As of this writing, no persons of interest have been named, and investigators continue to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case.
