Decomposing bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in a shallow grave in Purok Montilla, Barangay Lun Padidu, Malapatan, Sarangani.
A farmer, identified only as “Jem,” stumbled upon blood traces on freshly dug soil while urinating in the area. Alarmed, he reported the discovery to the local Purok Chairman.
Police, accompanied by Barangay Captain Rolando Bandiola and local officials, exhumed the bodies. The victims, believed to be in their 50s, were found unclothed and bore severe injuries.
Initial reports revealed chilling details. The woman, identified by a “Cherry-chekai” tattoo on her left arm, suffered over 80 stab wounds and had a head injury. The man, with a tattoo on his right arm, sustained puncture wounds in the neck and multiple stab wounds to the chest, believed to have been inflicted with a knife.
Jem recalled seeing two four-wheel vehicles passing his home late at night on January 7, a rare occurrence in the remote area typically traversed by motorcycles. He found it suspicious, given the difficult terrain and the secluded nature of the location.
Authorities are intensifying their investigation to identify the victims, determine the motive behind the killings, and track down suspects.
