A truck carrying eight students, two teachers and one parent from San Isidro, Davao Oriental, crashed in Santiago, Caraga, while the group was traveling to Baganga for the Division Schools Press Conference.
The accident involved the family-owned vehicle of the parent of one of the student delegates. The parent had offered the vehicle to transport the group through an official letter.
According to the Municipality of San Isidro, all eight students, two teachers and the parent are safe following the incident. They sustained only minor abrasions.
The San Isidro Rescue and Medical Team was immediately dispatched to Caraga after the accident to provide assistance, conduct initial medical assessments and ensure the safety of those involved.
Those requiring further medical attention are being referred to the Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital in Mati City for proper assessment and care.
San Isidro Mayor Maria Angelica T. Go-Dayanghirang directed the concerned offices and response teams to ensure that everyone involved remains safe and receives immediate assistance and necessary support.
The group was on its way to Baganga to attend the Division Schools Press Conference.
Meanwhile, other student delegates from San Isidro have safely arrived at the conference venue. More delegates are also traveling to Baganga aboard buses and vans provided by the local government of San Isidro.
The municipal government said its response teams continue to assist those involved in the accident.
