Trillanes files new graft, plunder complaints vs Sara Duterte

Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes, along with members of the civil society group The Silent Majority, has filed new graft and plunder complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte before the Office of the Ombudsman.

The complaints add to an earlier case filed in December 2025 related to the issue of confidential funds, according to the complainants.

The new filing covers alleged irregularities during Duterte’s tenure as secretary of the Department of Education and during her time as mayor of Davao City, the group said.

Included in the allegations are billions of pesos in disallowances cited by the Commission on Audit, unliquidated cash advances and the alleged failure to meet targets for the construction of thousands of classrooms.

The Silent Majority said ongoing or separate investigations should not prevent the filing of additional complaints against officials who are allegedly involved in the systematic misuse of public funds.

Trillanes said he is confident the evidence supporting the complaints is strong and sufficient to warrant action by the Ombudsman.

He also called on Ombudsman Boying Remulla to act promptly on the complaints and to hold the vice president accountable for the allegations raised.

The Office of the Ombudsman has not issued a statement on the newly filed complaints as of this writing. No response from Duterte or her legal team was included in the filing referenced by the complainants.

The complaints are the latest legal actions filed against Duterte in connection with questions raised over the handling and use of public funds during her previous government posts.
