Tricycle driver shot dead in broad daylight by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Cebu

A tricycle driver was shot dead by two unidentified men riding a motorcycle in Barangay Tapon, Dalaguete, Cebu, at about 10:40 a.m. on July 11.

Police identified the victim as Ruel, 48, a married resident of Barangay Cawayan in the same municipality.

According to the initial investigation by the Dalaguete Police Station, Ruel was traveling south while transporting two passengers when the attack occurred.

Witnesses told investigators that two unidentified men aboard a white motorcycle suddenly blocked the victim’s path.

The suspects were reportedly wearing sweatshirts and full-face helmets.

Police said one of the suspects immediately shot Ruel in the head before the two men fled the scene on their motorcycle.

Photographs taken at the scene showed the victim slumped over his tricycle after the shooting.

Authorities have not released the identities of the suspects.

The motive behind the attack has yet to be established.

The Dalaguete Police Station continues to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the gunmen and determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
