Army soldier, wife killed after Bacolod family dispute

A married couple died following a family dispute that turned violent in Purok Tilapia, Barangay 3, Bacolod City, on Sunday, July 12.

The victims were identified only by their aliases as Erwin, a member of the Philippine Army, and his 26-year-old wife, Nora.

According to initial reports, the couple had an argument before the incident.

Authorities suspect that Erwin later shot himself.

Police said Erwin’s father, identified only as Edwin, arrived at the scene and allegedly found his son bleeding.

Investigators said Edwin then allegedly took a knife and repeatedly stabbed Nora.

The woman sustained 11 stab wounds in different parts of her body and died from her injuries.

In an interview with Brigada News FM Bacolod, Nora’s father, identified only as Ariel, said the family had gathered earlier that day at a resort to celebrate the 14th birthday of one of his children.

Ariel said Edwin was also present during the gathering and was allegedly involved in the misunderstanding that preceded the incident.

Nora’s sister, identified only as Nena, alleged that Edwin repeatedly pushed family members into the swimming pool and also allegedly touched the private body part of another sibling.

According to Nena, the alleged incident was reported to Nora.

After returning home, Nora allegedly asked her husband to speak with his father regarding what had happened.

Nena also said she was upstairs when she heard a gunshot.

She alleged that Nora managed to get out of the house but was chased by Edwin, who allegedly stabbed her again.

Edwin is now under police custody as authorities continue their investigation.

Nora’s family said they are preparing to file the appropriate charges against the suspect.
