A tricycle driver was killed while three passengers were injured after a balite tree fell on their vehicle late Sunday night in Barangay Upper Ilang here.
The incident happened at about 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2026, according to a report from the Davao City Police Office.
Authorities identified the driver as Rodolfo Nayre. He was declared dead after being brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
Injured in the incident were passengers Grew Rose Lozano, 19; Jessica Paderanca, 31; and Carl John Lowuinte, 18. They were also taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Police said the tree suddenly toppled and struck the tricycle the victims were riding.
Investigators noted that rain had been continuous at the time of the incident, which was seen as a possible cause of the tree’s fall.
Further investigation is ongoing.
