An estimated ₱14 million worth of jewelry and cash was stolen from a jewelry store inside a major mall in Barangay San Pedro, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
Pagadian City Police Office said the suspects—believed to be three men—entered the establishment by tunneling through a hole from the lower part of the mall, gaining access directly to the jewelry store’s vaults.
CCTV footage captured the three unidentified men believed responsible for the break-in. Investigators suspect that the group may be linked to the so-called “Termite Gang,” known for similar heists involving tunneling and silent entry.
Authorities believe the suspects accessed the store by passing through another establishment that served as both the entry and exit point.
Workers from a nearby food outlet told Brigada Pagadian they heard noises that sounded like cement breaking but dismissed it, thinking it was part of routine construction or accidental drops.
The police are now working to confirm the identities of the suspects. The style of the break-in closely matches earlier cases involving the Termite Gang, which has been linked to a series of high-profile robberies in the country. The investigation remains ongoing.
