Senior citizen nabbed as P1.2M shabu seized in Cebu

A senior citizen was arrested while more than P1.2 million worth of suspected shabu was seized during two search warrant operations led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cebu Provincial Office with the Naga City Police Station on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Another suspect managed to escape.

Authorities first served a search warrant at 7:32 a.m. in Purok Sagay, Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Tuyan, Naga. The joint team of PDEA Cebu and the Philippine National Police arrested one individual in the area.

PDEA-7 Regional Director Joel B. Plaza identified the arrested suspect, who was also the subject of the warrant, as alias Jojo, 60, unemployed, and a resident of the community.

Recovered from the scene were seven packets of suspected shabu weighing around 100.2 grams with an estimated street value of P681,360. Officers also confiscated four pieces of aluminum foil containing traces of shabu, a cellphone and various drug paraphernalia.

Earlier that day, at 7:23 a.m., another PDEA-PNP team simultaneously served a second search warrant at Purok Centro 2, Barangay Langtad. Seized were three packets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 80 grams, valued at P544,000.

The respondent of the second warrant, identified only as alias Makmak, reportedly fled before arresting officers could reach him.

Surveillance reports indicated that those involved were estimated to be moving 50 to 100 grams of shabu weekly. Under the law, possession of more than 50 grams of shabu carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine that may reach P10 million.
