3 homes buried in Albay landslide as families barely escape alive

Three homes in Barangay Buhatan, Sto. Domingo, Albay were buried after a landslide triggered by heavy rains on December 7, 2025.

Barangay Captain Noel Serrano confirmed that the houses were completely covered by soil during the incident. Despite the destruction, he said the families inside managed to escape without injuries.

One of the families described hearing what they initially thought was a fast-moving truck outside. Minutes later, they saw mud rushing toward their house. The residents quickly hid behind an LPG tank in their kitchen as the soil collapsed around the structure.

The barangay continues to coordinate response efforts. Authorities have not yet released figures on damage or the number of individuals affected.

The landslide came after continuous rainfall that softened the ground, leading to the collapse. Local officials are now monitoring the area for further risks.

Residents are hoping for aid as they recover from the incident. For now, the priority is clearing debris and ensuring the safety of nearby houses.
