Pia Cayetano has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Senate committee on accountability of public officers and investigations, more commonly known as the Blue Ribbon Committee.
Acting Senate Majority Floor Leader Joel Villanueva formally nominated Cayetano for the position during the latest Senate reorganization held today.
No objections were raised against her appointment.
She will replace Senator Panfilo Lacson, who previously led the committee’s investigation into the alleged flood control scandal.
Meanwhile, Lacson will now serve as vice chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
Alan Peter Cayetano, the current Senate President, is the brother of Sen. Pia Cayetano.
