Sen. Imee Marcos urges Senate to complete flood control probe

Sen. Imee Marcos has appealed for the completion of the ongoing Senate investigation into flood control projects, saying the inquiry should conclude so that those responsible, if any, can be held accountable.

In a new video posted on social media, Marcos said she had received new information related to the flood control investigation.

Despite the information she cited, the senator rejected claims that conducting the investigation falls outside the responsibilities of lawmakers.

Marcos said the inquiry should be completed because many people are demanding to know where billions, or even trillions, of pesos in public funds allocated for flood control projects had gone.

She reiterated that determining accountability remains an important objective of the investigation.

As of now, the committee chaired by Sen. Erwin Tulfo has not announced a new schedule for the continuation of the flood control hearings.

Meanwhile, Sen. Risa Hontiveros denied an earlier claim made by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano during a live broadcast alleging that there was an effort to cover up the flood control controversy.

Hontiveros maintained that the allegation was not true.

No additional details were released regarding the information cited by Marcos in her social media post.

The Senate committee has yet to issue further announcements on when the investigation will resume.

The flood control inquiry remains pending as lawmakers continue to discuss issues surrounding government spending on flood control projects.
