Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez denied allegations by Vice President Sara Duterte that he received kickbacks from illegal gambling operations.
In a statement, Romualdez dismissed Duterte’s claims as “fabricated stories,” including reports about a suitcase allegedly filled with cash. He also distanced himself from issues linked to Okada and Delaware, which he said were being resurfaced only to damage his reputation.
Romualdez fired back at Duterte, saying she had already lost credibility as a source, and questioned why her unverified accusations should still be believed.
The exchange comes amid heightened political tensions, with both figures trading accusations in recent weeks. Duterte’s remarks have sparked renewed public attention to corruption controversies, while Romualdez has framed the claims as baseless attacks.
The former Speaker stressed he has no involvement in the matters raised and accused the Vice President of trying to discredit him for political gain.
This latest clash highlights the deepening rift between two of the country’s most influential political personalities.
