House prosecutor Rep. Ysabel Maria “Bel” Zamora said she is not affected by personal and misogynistic attacks against her online following her presentation of Police Major Joe Rickson Sangalang as a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
During a press conference, Zamora said she does not care about those criticizing her because whether she speaks or remains silent, their actions would not change.
Zamora said she was performing her duties as a lawyer and prosecutor for the prosecution.
She also apologized to those who criticized her Filipino speech, saying she sometimes speaks with slang and commonly uses English.
The congresswoman said the attacks should not be given attention, particularly those directed at her manner of speaking and presentation.
Zamora called for a higher level of discussion during the impeachment trial, saying personal attacks against women should not be part of the discourse.
She said it was unfortunate that some Filipinos continue to make personal attacks against women who are intelligent and capable speakers.
Zamora then responded directly to her bashers, telling them: “Get a life.”
Her remarks came after she presented Sangalang as a witness during the impeachment proceedings involving Duterte.
