PNP says it won’t be affected by “ITIM” ad of VP Sara and Sen. Imee

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the country remains generally safe, following a political advertisement by Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Imee Marcos suggesting rising crime rates.

Major General Roderick Augustus Alba, Director of Police Community Relations, stated that the PNP continues to carry out its mandate without being affected by political narratives.

According to PNP data, crime incidents from January to April 2025 dropped by 26 percent compared to the same period last year.

While acknowledging some high-profile cases remain unsolved, Alba emphasized that they are being addressed and do not reflect the national situation.

The ad, titled “ITIM,” features VP Duterte and Sen. Marcos and suggests a worsening crime environment. The PNP maintained that its data contradicts the ad’s message.

Alba reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to public safety, adding that they will not allow any narrative to hinder their work.
