Age is just a number for 58-year-old Beatriz Languita, who recently graduated from kindergarten alongside 200 children in Toledo North City Central School.
Languita, a resident of Barangay Daanlungsod, proved that learning has no age limit. In an interview with Brigada News Toledo, she shared her motivation: to understand and speak English like her grandchild, who also graduated with her.
She said that her desire to learn stemmed from a practical need — she wanted to avoid being deceived when signing documents, especially as she approaches senior citizenship.
“I want to learn English because my grandchild speaks it. I also want to make sure I don’t get tricked when I sign anything,” she said in the local interview.
Her story has since gone viral, inspiring many netizens and drawing attention to adult literacy and inclusive education efforts in the Philippines.
Languita encouraged other learners to take their studies seriously, especially those who receive full support from their parents. Her journey reflects both determination and the impact of accessible education in empowering individuals regardless of age.
This extraordinary milestone highlights how personal motivation and family ties can fuel lifelong learning.
