President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is leaving it to his son, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos, to respond to questions over the large allocation of Department of Public Works and Highways funds reportedly directed to his district.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President personally read the report published by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, which listed Sandro Marcos’ district among the top recipients of DPWH “allocable funds” from 2023 to 2025.
According to Castro, the younger Marcos has already stated that he is willing to appear before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure to address any inquiry related to the issue. His name was also included in the list of personalities invited by the commission for a hearing scheduled this week.
Castro added that Malacañang is open to a lifestyle check not only on Sandro Marcos but on the entire First Family, following renewed public questions and allegations of corruption. She said the Palace supports any process that brings clarity and allows officials to explain the basis of government allocations.
