Payloader lands on house roof in Cebu City

A two-story home in Barangay Busay, Cebu City sustained damage after a payloader reportedly lost its brakes and crashed into its rooftop early Tuesday morning, July 1.

According to initial reports, the payloader came from a popular nearby tourist spot and was being driven by a 45-year-old man identified as Tony, a resident of Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

While descending a steep portion of the road, the payloader allegedly experienced brake failure and continued downhill, eventually slamming into the house.

Joy, a resident of the damaged home, told Brigada News FM Cebu that they were jolted awake by a loud sound they initially mistook for an earthquake. She immediately checked on her child, whose bedroom was near the area of the house that took the impact.

Joy added that her family had been living in the same house near the main entrance of the tourist destination for nearly 20 years.

She also confirmed that the management of the tourist site promised to shoulder all repair expenses for the property.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the accident.
