With thousands expected to gather for the 29th Panaad sa Negros Festival, authorities have deployed 1,035 security personnel to ensure a safe and orderly celebration from March 24 to 30.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and NOCPPO Director Police Col. Rainerio De Chavez led the send-off ceremony at Panaad Park and Stadium on Saturday, March 22.
Security forces from NOCPPO, Bacolod City Police Office, Highway Patrol Group, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the medical unit are now in place.
An additional 200 emergency response personnel from various local government units have also joined the security detail.
Authorities began security operations on Sunday, a day before the festival’s official opening, to manage large crowds and respond to potential emergencies.
The province expects a surge in visitors as it expands the festival lineup with concerts, competitions, and local government unit pavilions.
Security teams are enforcing safety measures, controlling crowds, and preparing for emergencies to ensure a smooth and enjoyable celebration.
Despite possible challenges, including unpredictable weather, they remain committed to their duties, De Chavez said.
The Panaad sa Negros Festival, recognized as the “Festival of Festivals,” continues to highlight Negros Occidental’s culture and heritage while prioritizing public safety.*
