Malacañang on Saturday urged the public to wait for the results of ongoing investigations into alleged anomalies involving government flood control projects.
The statement came after the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) renewed its call for transparency, accountability, and justice regarding alleged corruption tied to the projects.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the government is following the rule of law and due process while relevant agencies continue their investigations.
The INC earlier said more than three months have passed since it held a rally calling for accountability over the alleged misuse of public funds. According to the group, there has yet to be a clear solution to what it described as widespread corruption.
The religious organization also raised concerns that instead of those allegedly involved being held accountable, some individuals who provided information or testified about the issue have reportedly faced cases and pressure.
The group also pointed to the alleged disappearance of more than ₱1 trillion intended for flood control and other infrastructure projects. It urged authorities to expand and complete the investigation, particularly amid emerging testimonies from former soldiers.
In response, Castro said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has already started exposing those allegedly involved in abusing public funds.
She added that the Department of Public Works and Highways and other government agencies have begun submitting their findings. Some recommended cases have already been forwarded to the Office of the Ombudsman and the Department of Justice.
Malacañang maintained that these actions form part of the government’s commitment to follow the rule of law and due process while awaiting the final resolution from the appropriate agencies.
