The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has officially declared the start of the dry season, marking the beginning of hotter weather conditions across the country.
According to PAGASA, the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, has already ended. As a result, warmer temperatures are expected in the coming days in various parts of the Philippines.
Despite the declaration of the dry season, PAGASA noted that some areas in Northern Luzon may still experience strong winds due to northeasterly winds. Authorities said these wind conditions may continue to affect parts of the region even after the end of the amihan season.
PAGASA also confirmed that there are currently no monitored Low Pressure Areas within the Philippine Area of Responsibility. This indicates that there are no immediate threats of weather disturbances that could bring significant rainfall in the near term.
With the official start of the dry season, PAGASA advised the public to remain cautious against heat-related illnesses that may occur during the hotter months.
Health and safety precautions were encouraged, especially during periods of extreme heat. PAGASA reminded the public to stay alert and take necessary measures to avoid possible health risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
The declaration of the dry season signals the transition to the country’s summer months, during which higher temperatures and generally drier weather conditions are commonly experienced across many areas nationwide.
