DICT denies eGov app hacking, says no data breach occurred

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) clarified that no data breach or hacking incident has occurred involving the eGov app.

According to DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr., the reported breaches were isolated cases linked to a third-party system.

He explained that the data allegedly exposed did not come from the eGov app, but from a separate third-party e-complaint system that does not contain personal information.

The DICT also emphasized that data within the eGov app is fully encrypted and protected by multiple layers of security.

Meanwhile, the agency warned the public against scammers posing as government personnel.

It stressed that no one will approach individuals to install applications or update records related to the eGov app.
