The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has confirmed the tragic loss of two pilots after the wreckage of the missing FA-50 aircraft was discovered in the Mt. Kalatungan Complex, Bukidnon, on March 5, 2025.
A full-scale search and rescue mission, launched on March 4, involved PAF units, the Philippine Army, and civilian volunteers. The mission aimed to locate and recover the pilots after the aircraft went missing during a routine operation. Utilizing emergency locator signals and beacons, PAF aircraft conducted aerial scans, while ground teams braved challenging conditions, including dense fog and rugged terrain, to locate the site.
Despite relentless efforts, the search ended in tragedy. The FA-50 fleet has been grounded as authorities launch a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.
“The Philippine Air Force deeply mourns the loss of our two brave pilots. We assure their families of our full support during this difficult time,” the PAF said in a statement.
As the nation grieves, the PAF has called for prayers in honor of the fallen pilots, whose dedication and sacrifice will always be remembered.
